BC Housing Selects RCHS as Non-profit Partner for 420 Downie St Development

The Revelstoke Community Housing Society is thrilled to announce a major step forward in addressing the housing needs of our community. BC Housing is paving the way for the development of 164 new homes for families, seniors, and young workers in Revelstoke.

This project, a collaborative effort between BC Housing, the City of Revelstoke, local residents, and the Revelstoke Community Housing Society, marks a significant milestone in our mission to provide much-needed housing in our community. The vacant site at 420 Downie Street will soon transform into a vibrant neighbourhood, welcoming new households and contributing to the overall well-being of Revelstoke.

Revelstoke Community Housing Society has been selected as the nonprofit partner to work alongside BC Housing to bring this vision to life. Our involvement will include the construction and operation of the housing project, ensuring that it meets the needs of our community members and provides a safe, welcoming environment for all residents.

“We are incredibly excited about this opportunity to enhance the housing landscape in Revelstoke,” said Sheena Wells, Co-chair of the Revelstoke Community Housing Society. “This project represents a significant investment in our community’s future, and we are committed to working with BC Housing and our local partners to see it come to fruition.”

Once a building permit is issued, construction is anticipated to begin as early as Spring 2025. Throughout the planning and construction phases, we will work alongside BC Housing to keep the community informed and engaged, ensuring transparency and collaboration at every step.
